What is Gambling and How Do You Win?

Gambling has long been associated with “Lady Luck.” Lucky people win money when they gamble, unlucky people lose. That’s a common myth that is often perpetuated to encourage reckless gambling. Gambling without knowledge most often leads to financial loss. As a gambler, it is your job to acquire as much knowledge and skill about any casino games you play. You want to try and remove as much of the “luck factor” as possible. Casino games will always have elements of chance, but it is time for you to look at the games from another perspective.

TheFreeDictionary.com defines gambling as, “To play a game of chance for stakes (money).”

  • There are several games in the casino that can be played with a high degree of skill. This decreases the role of chance. Every game in the casino has been setup with an advantage for “the house” (casino). What if I told you there were ways to decrease the house advantage and have an edge over the casino? That may seem like fiction often displayed in Hollywood movies, but it is a reality. I would be the first one to tell you that consistently winning substantial amounts of money at the casino’s expense is not easy. I would also tell you that lowering their advantage to a minimal amount is not as difficult as you might think.

How to win at gambling

Gambling success has long been perceived as this illusive complex endeavor that only geniuses can master, or something that requires being born with the “lucky gene.” In reality, most of it involves simple rote memorization. Rote memorization is the same form of learning you used when you learned your times tables. You no longer have to understand the underlying mathematics behind each of the games. Most of the complex mathematical equations that determine your fate have already been done for you. Your job is to essentially memorize the answers.

  • When you are dealt a 13 versus a dealer’s up card of 6 in the game of blackjack, you don’t turn to the Gods of gambling for answers on what to do. You don’t rub your Magic 8-ball seeking guidance. Hopefully, you have taken the time to memorize the proper play and allow the statistics of the game to take its course. I could take the time to explain the mathematics behind this decision, but wouldn’t you rather just memorize the fact that you should stand?

This is just one of the many examples of the techniques that you will be taught in my latest gambling book: A Winning Gambling Strategy…And How To Get It! I don’t want you to get bogged down in complex formulas. I want you to be able to obtain the information you need as quickly and proficiently as possible. It is your job to then take this newly acquired information and use it in the real world setting of the casino.

About Greg Elder

I was 37 years old, a husband and father, a former teacher, college and high school basketball coach, and a business owner, I decided to give it all up (Not the husband and father part) to take a shot at pro gambling. I was coming off a job I hated selling insurance, and I vowed to do something I was passionate about. For the next year I would spend 12-15 hours a day researching, studying, and practicing advantage gambling techniques. The goal was to see if I could sustain our current lifestyle as a professional gambler. I wanted to find out if casinos really could be beat. At the time, I thought it may be the biggest mistake of my life, but my intentions were to have fun trying. It has been an interesting few years since that journey began. My feature book GAMBLERS FIGHT BACK has been released and can be purchased on my author site at www.GREGELDERAUTHOR.com I would consider my pro gambling career to be a success on all fronts. I didn't win millions of dollars, but I was able to enjoy every minute of it. It brought an excitement and passion back into my professional life. It has helped lead me to a writing career that I had no idea I even wanted before this challenge. I was able to write a book that shared with others exactly what I learned along the way.. Gambling professionally is not easy, but there are certain things the average gambler can do to increase their chances of success tremendously. That's the information I try to pass along to my readers.

    • Yes, there is a chapter on craps. I don’t get into all the different types of bets. I focus on what the best bets are in craps based on the odds. The book is designed to help players develop a strategy to reduce the house advantage as low as possible for each game. I also discuss money management, comps, etc. that can be used in combination with the craps strategy. Thanks,
      Greg
